March 13, 2000
Registration for the contest begins at 9 a.m., with the first class starting at 9:30. The contest consists of two heifer and two cow classes, as well as oral reason and pedigree classes.
Awards will be given to the top three individuals in the junior, intermediate, and senior 4H classes, and the top five individuals in the FFA contest. The awards will be presented at 1 p.m., followed by the Springtime Youth Calf Sale. The youth-only sale will be an opportunity for 4H and FFA youth to purchase dairy heifers for the show season, as all consignments will be full-age intermediate and senior calves from the various dairy breeds.
There will be a hot lunch, beverages, and other food items available for a nominal fee. The event is sponsored by the Nestlé Regional Training Center, Washington State University Cooperative Extension, Land O' Lakes/Western Feed Division, and the dairy families who support youth development events.
