Sammamish Grange members Helen McMahon, Evelyn Kammerer, and Gino Giovichini were recently at John Muir Elementary School in Kirkland to receive an appreciation award for the Grange's gift of books to the school. Last fall, the 600 first through sixth graders pledged to read 2000 books between Oct. 1 and March 1, a goal they accomplished by Feb. 1. The completed books were tracked on paper rockets on which students recorded their name and the book(s) they read.
