Area soccer players win championship

Six local high school student athletes are members of the U-16 girls select soccer team, Stellarz Nationals, which won the WSYSA Snickers State Championship Cup 2000 at Renton Stadium on March 4.

The 18-member team includes Megan Beden, Sara Gaz, and Beth Lippert from Woodinville High School, and Jessica Bathurst, Sara Morgan, and Carly Sawhill from Bothell High School. Other team members are students from seven other high schools in the state.

As state champions, the Stellarz will represent Washington at the Regionals in Pleasanton, California in June, where the team will play other state teams from the region in an attempt to continue on to the Nationals in Florida in July.

During the regular season, the Stellarz finished first in the GU-16 Premier 1 division. The Stellarz Nationals team is coached by Mike Koslosky and his assistant, Mike Lovejoy.
