Northshore Kiwanis to host Connection 2000

   Youth programs throughout the Northshore community will be getting a boost from the proceeds of the upcoming Northshore Kiwanis Charity Auction. The event, "Connections 2000," will be held at the Northshore Senior Center on Saturday, April 1st, at 7 p.m.

   The evening will feature hors d'oeuvres and dessert with refreshments and a no-host bar. Those attending will have an opportunity to bid on an array of items at the silent auction from 7 to 8 p.m., followed by the live auction.

   The auction will include vacation getaways, arts and crafts, sports equipment, restaurant meals, boat charters, household items, float plane outings, artwork, patio furniture, hot-air balloon rides, floral arrangements, and certificates redeemable for various products and services. Northshore businesses and individuals who would like to donate items to help raise funds should call Paul Cowles at 425-483-8464.

   Admission is a $25 donation, or a table for eight at $160. Anyone interested in purchasing tickets or more information should call Tom Traeger at 425-488-2818.

Diabetes risk tests

   Diabetes risk tests will be held at Top Food & Drugs in Woodinville on Friday, March 24. A complimentary store tour from 10 to 11 a.m. will address nutrition and label reading for diabetes management. A complimentary foot screening for those with diabetes who are at risk for health complications will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Preregistration is required; call 398-6722.

Celebrate spring with a bike ride in the valley

   Join a King County Park Naturalist for a bike ride along the Snoqualmie Valley Trail in Carnation on Sunday, March 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. The trip will cover approximately 10 miles on level ground. The path is hard-packed gravel and is best suited for mountain or hybrid bicycles. The ride is recommended for adults and children ages nine and older. For information, call (206) 296-4171.
