New baby becomes honorary Girl Scout

honorary Girl Scout

Past Girl Scout babies join Aiyana North at the Honorary Girl Scout event on March 12: (back row, left to right) Melissa Morgan ('87), Megan Hsu ('91), Siena Jensen ('92), father Tim North; (front row) Sierra Donelson ('96), mother Melanie Odom, and Ellen Nielson ('93).

Little Aiyanna Faith Nicole North doesn't realize it yet, but she's an Honorary Girl Scout. Aiyana was given this distinction on March 12, when Girl Scout representatives from Service Unit 410 (which covers Redmond, Woodinville, and Bothell) bestowed the title of Honorary Girl Scout and loads of gifts on her.

For the past dozen years, the local Girl Scouts have recognized the first girl born at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center on March 12, the birthday of Girl Scouting. The baby and her parents, Tim North and Melanie Odom of Kirkland, received gifts from the Scouts; some were handmade by girls working toward merit badges, and others were purchased with money raised by the troops.
