At the recent Washington State Math Competition in Blaine, over 400 teams (5th-8th grades) from around the state competed in tests of probability, geometry, algebra, and mental math. Students worked in teams of four to solve challenging problems within a prescribed time period. Each student was also given an individual test.

Several Northshore schools picking up awards included Arrowhead, East Ridge, Hollywood Hill, Woodin, and Woodmoor elementary schools, and Leota and Northshore junior highs.
