Evergreen takes first at Math Olympiad

   The Evergreen School fifth-grade math team won first place in their grade level competition at the Shoreline Math Olympiad on Saturday, March 10. The team included Philip Kimmey, Tori Borish, Sophia Bartolini, and Laurel Schmidt. Laurel also won the individualized prize for second place. The same team won first prize at the 2000 Math State Championship in Blaine on March 18.

   The Evergreen School chess team, the Knightmares won first place in at the Northwest Championship 2000 on March 4. Playing for the Knightmares were Benjamin Basson, Clayton Brock, Nat Mayer, Drew Inglis, Jeremy Kohlenberg, Ron Nelson, Justin Norden, Marco Scheuer, Conner Smith, Jason Sung, Alex Suntay, Michael Wales, Ryan Calver, Brandon Lee, and Jeremy Norden (third place) and Marco Scheuer (seventh place). Jeremy Norden placed seventh in the grades 4-6 section.
