Duvall resident honored

Literacy Council award

   Alba Knight of Duvall and Rachel Stewart of North Bend were named Students of the Year for their outstanding achievements by Eastside Literacy Council at the Annual Celebration on March 6. They were among five who were honored by ELC. Students were also recognized for earning their GED diploma or achieving U.S. citizenship.

   Mary Holt of Woodinville and Jay Taylor of North Bend were among five volunteers honored as Tutors of the Year for their hard work and dedication. Recognition was also given to Extraordinary Volunteers and for ten years of service to ELC.

   The Woodinville Rotary Club and the Eastside Journal received Community Partner Awards for 1999. The Rotary Club provided major underwriting for the literacy organization's Learning Centers' Resource Libraries. The Eastside Journal has sponsored a variety of ELC efforts and provided financial support through its Charitable Foundation.

   Eastside Literacy Council gratefully recognizes the support, commitment, and dedication of its many volunteers and donors.
