April is Disaster Preparedness Month
Preparing for disasters and emergencies before they occur is the goal of April's "Prepare Because You Care" campaign in Washington. The campaign will include a statewide "Drop, Cover, and Hold" earthquake drill on April 6.
"We want to energize our citizens, businesses, and government agencies to take steps now to prepare for and prevent disaster damage of any type," said Gov. Gary Locke.
Schools, businesses, hospitals, and government agencies also will participate in the April 6 "Drop, Cover, and Hold" earthquake drill between 9:45 and 10 a.m. Individuals will take the appropriate earthquake safety action during the drill. For further information, call (253) 512-7000.
Women's aerobics classes, sponsored by the Health Resource Center, will begin on Monday, April 17, at 9:15 at Washington Cathedral, 12300 Woodinville-Redmond Road NE. Body and Soul Ministries will offer two demonstration classes on April, 5 and 7. Classes will be held on Mondays and Fridays, 9:15 to 10:15 a.m., and Wednesdays, noon to 1 p.m. Cost is $2.50 per class. Call 425-828-7133.
