Youth Talent Showcase planned

A showcase of dynamic performances highlighting hope, empowerment, and freedom for youth will take place at the Seattle Center's Center House Stage on Saturday, May 20, from 3-6 p.m. (following the International Children's Festival). This event is not a competition--it is a talent showcase, with all performers receiving free food and gifts.

Performances can include expresssions in dance, hip-hop, poetry readings, singing, skits, and cultural pride to encompass the theme "Hope/Empowerment/Freedom." The event sends a positive message to youth counteracting negative stereotyping and stressing the hope and possibilities that exist for today's youth.

Youth are invited to submit a brief paragraph outlining the content of their performance and telling how it expresses "Hope/Empowerment/Freedom" with a video, audiocassette, CD, or scripts from the act. Skits will be limited to ten minutes; all other performances should be five minutes. Submitted materials are not returnable.

Send audition materials to: King County Youth 'N' Action; c/o Sherry Rials; 700 5th Avenue, Suite 3700; Seattle, WA 98104-5037. Deadline is Monday, April 24, at 3 p.m. For more information, call Sherry Rials at 206-296-4518.
