Brian Leiter

WHS grad receives 'Top Stick' award

   Brian Leiter, 1993 Woodinville High School graduate and son of Ron and Lynn Leiter (longtime residents of Woodinville), was awarded the "Top Stick" Award in the 8th Flying Squadron at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma.

   This award is presented to the trainee who has accumulated top scores in academics and flights over a six-month period. Brian is a 1995 graduate of Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, where he received his commercial pilot's license.

   Following his marriage to the former Trena Sherbon, 1995 graduate of WHS and daughter of Diana and Cliff Sherbon of Duvall, Brian joined the Air Force Reserve, where Trena was stationed as a medic in the USAF. Brian has received many honors, which include Distinguished Graduate at Sheppard AFB and Outstanding Aircraft Maintenance Technician for 1998.

   Brian graduated from Central Missouri State University with a Bachelors degree in aviation technology. He was commissioned 2nd Lt. at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, Alabama on August 20, 1999. Following his training, Lt. Leiter will be flying the A10 Warthog with the 303rd Fighter Squadron, 442nd Fighter Wing, at Whiteman AFB in Missouri.
