Spring cleaning at local cemetery

Ridge Riders

The Woodinville Ridge Riders, a local 4-H club, recently assisted in the spring cleaning of the Woodinville Cemetery. The April 8 project consisted of clearing away dead leaves, pruning, pulling weeds, and mowing. According to Linda McCune, the Cemetery Association president, the cemetery relies on local groups to help maintain the property that was donated to the community in the late 1800s by Ira and Susan Woodin. There are no local or state funds to help maintain the historic piece of property.

Oldtime Woodinville residents Elmer Carlberg and Beryl Johnson volunteered their time in maintaining the property through the 1960s and '70s. Norm Perkins took over in the '80s, and Linda McCune has worked since 1993. If you are interested in serving on the cemetery board or if you have a group that would like to help with property maintenance, call Linda McCune at 483-3759.
