Valley Baseball wins in first outing

The Valley Baseball Association began its Sandy Koufax season of select baseball by being rained out on opening day, April 15. The first actual game, on April 16, was against the Puget Sound Hornets from Federal Way.

The team was two batters up and two outs into the game when Lucas Bunce hit a single to shallow center field. Anthony Sanelli's single to right field behind first base set the stage for the next batter. Chris Brouillette roped a ball to left field for a double, scoring the fast runners.

Cody Vermeulen pitched four innings, struck out nine, and gave up only three runs. Anthony and Chris closed out the game. Manager Matt Sanelli said he was pleased with the performance of the team, because nearly everyone who stepped up to the plate got a hit. The game ended with Valley Baseball recording an opening day win with a score of 11-6.
