BBQ season begins

   Riverview BBQ season was ushered in by Carnation Elementary's Jim Jordan. Future BBQs will be May 12 at Eagle Rock, May 24 at Stillwater, and June 19 at Tolt Middle School.

Civic Club plant sale

   Duvall Civic Club/Friends of the Library 31st annual plant sale is set for Saturday, May 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Duvall Library. The plant sale will benefit the library and other worthwhile organizations. This year, Master Gardeners and Master Composters will be on hand. Tickets for the annual raffle for a hanging basket and other other gardens gems will be on sale. Call 788-1173.

Breast cancer education

   A presentation on breast cancer is scheduled for Friday, May 12, 10:30 a.m. at the Sno-Valley Senior Center. Call the center at 425-333-4152 if you wish to attend. Mammograms will be scheduled during June or July. Women may sign up now at the front desk.

Conga music at Pumps & Grinds

   Return to the rhythmic roots of music on Saturday, May 13, when Lee Grumman & the Occasional Drums play African-based conga music from 7:30-10 p.m. at Pumps & Grinds Coffeehouse, 15614 Main St. NE, Duvall. Call 844-2766.

Tap dancing workshops

   Tap dancing workshops taught by Johnson and Peters, Seattle's Tap Dancing Duo, will be held on Sunday, May 21, at TJ Dance Studio, 14701 Main St. NE, #C2, in the Duvall Tech Center. Register by calling 844-9086. Free beginners class is at 10 a.m., intermediate class ($15) at 11 a.m. For ages 10 and up. Class is in conjunction with the Johnson and Peters performance at Cedarcrest on June 4 at 2 p.m.

Mother's Day lunch

   All seniors, families, and friends are invited to the Mother's Day lunch on Friday, May 12, at noon at the Sno-Valley Senior Center. Entree is Hawaiian baked chicken. For seniors, suggested donation is $2.50. If under 60, the cost is $4.65. Call 425-333-4152.

Musical Revue

   The Snoqualmie Valley Community Choir presents "A Musical Revue of Broadway" on Wednesday, May 10, 7 p.m. at Cedarcrest High School. Free.

Giant plant and bake sale

   A giant plant and bake sale will be held at the Tualco Grange Hall (on Tualco Road south of Monroe) on May 13 from 1-4 p.m. Garden experts will be on hand. Enjoy coffee and delicious homemade baked goodies while browsing a large selection of perennials, annuals, vines, and old roses.

Mother's Day plant sale

   The new horticulture program at Cedarcrest High School is having its first huge Mother's Day plant sale on May 12, 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m., and May 13, 9-5 at the greenhouse behind the high school (by the fields). There will be hundreds of healthy annuals, perennials, baskets, and more.

Walk-A-Thon for new playground

   Fall City Elementary School will be having a Walk-A-Thon on Thursday, May 18, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. followed by a celebration barbecue. All funds raised go toward new playground equipment for the school and community. The PTSA's short-range goal is to purchase a "Big Toy" type playgym for the kids. The long-range goal is a new play area for the school and Fall City community.

Log house building seminar

   Skip Ellsworth will be conducting a two-day log home building seminar on the weekend of May 27 and 28. Skip has been holding these very popular classes for 26 years. A description of the seminar can be found on the Web at www.loghomebuilders.org.
