Hopefully, efforts will make a difference for kids

Thank you to the Riverview School District for inviting us to the two-day planning session on May 5th and 6th. We would like to thank you for taking the initiative to pull together the community members, teachers, staff, parents, and administrators of our district for the April 1st forum and this planning session.

There were 28 of us at the planning session who worked together for two days and drafted a vision and mission statement for the school district. It will be reviewed by the superintendent, then presented to the school board..

The one thing that amazed us was how much we all agreed on the way we saw our schools. We saw our schools as a place where children, teachers, and adults, being parents, friends, and family members and community members, work together to meet all their educational needs in a bright, cheerful, and safe environment.

We are not finished, however. We were to set goals at this planning session, but ran out of time. We are coming back together on May 31st to accomplish that task. We hope our collaborative efforts make a difference to our school district and to our community--and most of all, to our kids.

Thank you for caring about us and including us in your journey.
