Memorial Day Ceremonies, Monday, May 29

   Hundreds of veterans, their families, and the public will gather for a music concert at 1:30 p.m. and a service of remembrance at 2 the 74th annual Memorial Day Service at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 11111 Aurora Avenue N. on the grounds of Evergreen-Washelli Memorial Park. At 7 a.m., flags and poppies will be placed on each of the 5,000 white marble upright markers in the veteran's section.

   The Seattle Pacific University Symphonic Wind Ensemble will provide a musical concert just prior to the service of remembrance. The service of remembrance will include a military color guard, a firing detail in uniform, a taps and wreath placement ceremony. Speaker for this year's service is Col. Phil Smart, Sr., U.S. Air Force, and owner of Phil Smart Mercedes-Benz in downtown Seattle.

   The Veterans of Bothell and Kenmore, 1st District GOP, and the TROA Seattle Chapter will hold their 2nd annual ceremony to commemorate Korean War veterans at Blythe Park in Bothell at 11 a.m.

   The American Legion, lower Snoqualmie Valley Post #199, will hold memorial ceremonies at the Novelty Hill Cemetery off 124th in Duvall at 10 a.m. Included in the ceremony will be a color guard, wreath placement ceremony, and firing detail. The ceremony will be repeated at the Carnation Cemetery, located next to Carnation Elementary School on Hwy. 203, at 11 a.m.

   The Memorial Day Program at Tahoma National Cemetery will take place at the Memorial Circle flagpole area at 11:30 a.m. The cemetery is located in Kent.
