Northshore Junior High student shot by best friend

In an apparent accident, a 13-year-old Northshore Junior High student, the son of a Redmond police officer, shot his best friend, Jared Davidson, also 13 and a Northshore student, in the stomach last Friday around 6 p.m. at a home in the 11900 block of NE 159th St. in Queensgate.

The officer's son apparently brought the gun from his father's bedroom into the kitchen to show it to Davidson when it went off.

The injured boy was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center where he was listed in serious condition following surgery Friday night. By Monday, his condition was still listed as serious.

Both of the boys are in the seventh grade. Many of their friends and classmates gathered at the house following the shooting.
