Valley Baseball takes fifth

   Valley Baseball entered its first tournament of the year, the Jet City Diamond Classic, going three wins and one loss, taking fifth place out of 16 teams in the Sandy Koufax league.

   "There were some great teams in this tournament, and placing 5th is something to be proud of," said manager Matt Sanelli. "We got tired in the last game."

   VBA got strong pitching performances by Cody Vermeulen, Anthony Sanelli, Chris Brouillette, Lucas Bunce, Blaine Sutton, and Ryan Jarvis. VBA had strong hitting performances by Anthony Sanelli (9 for 13, 4 3B, 2 2B), Chris Brouillette (8 for 16, 2 2B), and Ryan Jarvis and Jamil Saeed, who both went 5 for 11. The team batting average was .347.

   Valley Baseball 6, Seattle A's 0: Cody Vermeulen started and got the win. Lucas Bunce and Chris Brouillette closed. All pitchers combined allowed 2 hits and struck out 4. Michael Lee, KJ Sherman, and Ryan Jarvis all had RBIs.

   Valley Baseball 8, Marysville Gators 2: Anthony Sanelli pitched 6 strong innings, allowed only 2 hits, and struck out 13. Ryan Jarvis closed the game in the 7th.

   Valley Baseball 9, Kirkland Heat 10: Valley goes down in extra innings. Their 14 hits were not enough to save them from 9 errors. VBA left 9 runners on base.
