Inglemoor High School teacher honored

Timothy Curtis, an English teacher at Inglemoor High School in Northshore School District in Bothell, is the recipient of a Whitman College award for distinguished secondary school teaching. Curtis was presented with the award during the college's commencement weekend activities, May 19-21.

The award is given annually to a high school teacher nominated by a member of the Whitman senior class. Curtis was nominated by Matt Carter, a 1996 alumnus of Inglemoor High School.

In his nominating letter, Carter, the son of Don and Gail Carter of Bothell, praised Curtis for his exceptional qualities as a teacher, crediting his high school teacher with teaching him how to write, changing the way he thinks, and preparing him for rigorous college course work.

Curtis, who earned his bachelor's degree in education from Western Washington State University and his master's from Seattle University, has been a teacher at IHS since 1972.
