Weekly fire drills at Girl Scout Camp

CARNATION--Girl Scouts are well-known for always "being prepared," and fire drill practice at summer camp is a necessary step for staying prepared.

When Camp River Ranch in Carnation is in session from June 26-August 19, local residents may hear a fire siren between 1-3 p.m. every Monday. This procedure prepares girls in case of a fire or other emergency during camp session. It is also a safety requirement to meet American Camping Association certification.

The signal is a constant tone, running from one to three minutes, different from the local flood signal that has an alternating high-low tone. Contact Margie Culbertson Blue, director at 1-800-878-4685.
