Foundation receives WaterWorks grant

The King County Department of Natural Resources recently announced an award of $30,000 in WaterWorks grants for projects to improve county waterways to the Adopt a Stream Foundation of Woodinville.

The award removed a culvert that hinders fish passage on Little Bear Creek. The creek supports chinook, coho, sockeye, kokanee, steelhead, Dolly Varden, and cutthroat species. The Puget Sound Water Quality Action Team contributed $15,000 toward the award.

The next WaterWorks grant deadline, for awards of up to $50,000, is July 14. Applications for grants less than $5,000 can be submitted year-round.
