City staffers to walk in cancer fund-raiser

WOODINVILLE--Woodinville city staffers have taken teamwork to an all-time high.

Members from various departments have formed a relay team of walkers who will be participating in the July 21 American Cancer Society Relay for Life to be held at Woodinville High School.

Dawn Picard of the Administrative Services Department, who serves as a team captain, handled team recruitment and fund-raising events. "We've had great support from all of the city staff and the council in that they have contributed to our fund-raisers, which included a bake sale and box lunch sale," she said. The team has about reached its goal of $1,000 in pledges.

The team has adopted the name "City Sleek Walkers" and will join several teams on the track at the high school. Team members are to walk the track relay style beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, July 21, through 6 p.m. Saturday, July 22.

For more information about the relay, contact the American Cancer Society at 1-800-729-5588.
