Obituary: Jean Fries was program director for Sno-Valley Senior Center

   Jean Fries, 78, of Carnation, passed away at home on Thursday, July 20. At her request, no services were held.

   Mrs. Fries was born on May 13, 1922, in Arlington, California, the daughter of Samuel and Villa Skeen. She was raised in Riverside, California.

   Mrs. Fries received an accounting degree from Anchorage Community College and attended Lake Washington Voc-Technical School in computer technology. She moved to this area in 1974. Mrs. Fries worked as the baker for Silver Spoon restaurant in Duvall from 1974 to 1977 and then as an accountant for Heat Transfer in Carnation prior to her retirement.

   She had a special heart for seniors and served as program director for the Sno-Valley Senior Center in Carnation. Her family stated that she was a very compassionate and caring person. In her leisure time, Mrs. Fries enjoyed cooking and gardening.

   Mrs. Fries is survived by her daughters Ronnie Bowlan of Carnation and Janet Fries of Duvall; one brother, L.F. "Bud" Johnstone of LaPine, Oregon; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Lenn Fries, and three brothers, Donald, Richard, and Arthur Skeen.
