Orientation set for Cedarcrest freshmen
Cedarcrest High School will conduct an orientation for all incoming 9th grade students on Thursday, August 17, 9:30 a.m. in the CHS Performing Theater. On that day, all 9th grade students need to pick up their final fall class schedule, purchase their ASB cards, get their annual pictures made, pick up sports physical forms and get lunch tickets.
A special program is planned for all students to acquaint them with their new school. All students will meet in the theater for a welcome by the principal, Mr. Clarence Lavarias, and a presentation by a motivational speaker.
Students will divide into small groups and be taken through the school by student leaders. They will have a chance to see all parts of the school‹the gym, library (LRC), the commons, cafeteria, main office and its staff and the counseling center and staff.
Students and staff will explain how the four-period day works, how the freshman schedule looks and what their school day will be like.
A special feature of this year's freshman orientation will be the opportunity for students to bring information about themselves and their class to produce a time capsule for the graduating class of 2004. The time capsule will be opened just before graduation, 2004.
Snacks will be available at the beginning of orientation. Lunch will finish off the day at noon.
   School starts September 5.
