Duvall youth center public meeting set

The public is invited to join the city of Duvall's councilmembers at a public workshop about the city's proposed youth center. The Duvall City Council will meet at the youth center--the former police station--at 26512 NE Stella St., next to the fire hall, at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24.

The existing building has had no improvements made to it, so members of the community are cautioned that there is no wheelchair-accessible entry to the facility at this time.

The Public Works Department has scheduled Greg Bjarko, architect from the firm of Bjarko Serra and Associates, to present his consultant team's findings regarding the status of the building and its site, and the potential for its use as a youth gathering and recreation center.

In addition, Matt McCarter, community organizer from East King County, will be at the meeting to share initial information on how he can assist the city and members of the community, especially the youth, to establish the types of uses and activities suitable for the center, plus how to staff and administer the site.

At the close of the council workshop (approximately 6:45p.m.), council members will adjourn to the Rose Room for their regular meeting at 7 p.m. For information, please call the Duvall Public Works Capital Project Manager Connie Zimmerman at 788-3434, ext. 32, or via e-mail at
