School Board member resigns

In a letter read to fellow Northshore School Board members at the Aug. 22 meeting, Tim Barclay announced his plans to resign from the Northshore School Board.
Barclay was originally appointed to the board May 12, 1998 to fill former director Jeff Schaub's place when he resigned. Barclay was officially elected to the board in November 1999. In early May, 2000, he requested and was granted a leave of absence
Given increasing work responsibilities and his desire to be an involved parent raising three young children with his wife, Julie, Barclay no longer feels he can "fully meet the expectations of Board membership while also meeting other personal obligations.
The school district is currently accepting applications for a new school board member to replace Mr. Barclay.
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must be a U.S. Citizen and live in District 1. Schools in the District 1 area include: Kokanee, Canyon Creek, Crystal Springs, Skyview Junior High and Fernwood.
Interested candidates should call Rosalie Mushta, 489-6265, to request an application packet. The deadline for submitting an application is Sept. 28.
A Candidate Orientation will be held on Sept. 21 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. in the Superintendents Office in the Ricketts Building. 18315 Bothell Way NE. Screening interviews will be held on Oct. 5 between 4- 6:45 p.m. The school board hopes to announce its decision at the October 10 board meeting at 4 p.m. It is anticipated that the person appointed would serve until the next regular Board election in November, 2001.
