Riverfest to celebrate Bothell's heritage

The Bothell Parks and Recreation Division will present Riverfest on the weekends of Sept. 9, 10, 16, 17 at the Park at Bothell Landing to celebrate the city's heritage and community.
   "It's always exciting to launch something new, but it's even better when the whole community can get involved with it," said Bothell Mayor Mike Noblet. "Riverfest is our newest community event bringing the residents together for a good time."
   Along with the historical aspect, each Riverfest day will have a theme including Kid's Day, Nostalgia Day, Community Pride Day and Fun for All Day. Riverfest Schedule of Events:
   Kids' Day
   Saturday, Sept. 9
   3:30 p.m. Children's concert featuring Tia! & Tia's Quacker Tunes
   Other activities (from 2-5 p.m.) magician, face painting, clowns and balloon animals, jugglers, fire and police dept. displays, Tae Kwon Do demonstrations, science and art fun, inflatable amusements.
   Nostalgia Day Sunday, Sept. 10
   1 p.m. Motorcycle show
   2 p.m. Madison Avenue in concert (music throughout the 20th century)
   Other activities (from 1-4 p.m.) museum tours, war memorabilia display, debut of the City of Bothell history video, "Bothell: A Sense of Time and Place," a fun walk along the Sammamish River with a history lesson.
   Community Pride Day Saturday, Sept. 16
   9 a.m.-3 p.m. Fall cleanup event at Skyview Junior High (21404 35th Ave. SE)
   1-4 p.m. UW/Cascadia Community College grand opening at 18345 Campus Way NE. (public is invited)
   5 p.m. Mended Heart in concert (country/gospel music)
   Fun for All Day Sunday, Sept. 17
   1 p.m. River raft race
   2 p.m. Rock & roll music
   Other activities (from 1-4 p.m.) tour museum, sports extravaganza, (try your skill at sports activities and win prizes), climbing wall, chalk art.Dates and times are subject to change. For additional information, call 486-7430.
