Draft Horse and Mule Extravaganza

Sept. 28 thru Oct. 1 in Monroe
The Washington Draft Horse and Mule Association presents the 30th Annual Washington Draft Horse and Mule Extravaganza, Sept. 28 through Oct. 1, at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, WA.
One of largest all-draft shows on the west coast, this exciting family entertainment event presents all five of the major draft horse breeds (Belgians, Clydesdales, Percherons, Shires and Suffolks) plus draft mules in open competition.
Horses and mules will be shown at halter and under harness hitched to a variety of vehicles, including small one-horse carts, farm equipment and up to big 8-horse hitch wagons such as the famous Budweiser Clydesdale hitch. Popular log skidding and pulling contests will be included in each performance.
Barns will be open except during hitching for an up-close-and-personal view of the one-ton-plus "Gentle Giants".
Five performances are scheduled in the indoor arena: Friday and Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Adult tickets for performances are $7.00, with discounts for students and seniors, children under 6 are free when accompanied by an adult. Halter classes (where the judge views the animals' conformation while led under halter) are Thursday starting at 10:30 a.m. and are free.
For large groups, reservations are recommended for performances and group discounts can be arranged. For reservations or further information call (360) 568-1289 or Karen Wolf at (425) 334-1615.
