Local author at Barnes & Noble

Local author David Patneaude will be featured at a reception and booksigning at Woodinville Barnes & Noble Sunday, Oct. 8, from 1 to 3 p.m.
   The event will celebrate the release of his newest thriller, "Haunting at Home Plate." Refreshments will be served and information on a new monthly boys' reading club hosted by Patneaude will be presented.
   Other upcoming events at the store include Chess Challenge! set for Friday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
   Players are invited to bring their chess sets and join Washington State chess champion William Schill. The first 10 players will get a chance to beat Schill as he plays them simultaneously.
   What is billed as the World's Largest Writing Workshop will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. Author Julie Miller Ed. D will share writing tips, ideas and creative exercises during the 90 minute workshop.
