Volunteers needed to help habitat at Chinook Bend
Nestlé Corporation has donated 56 acres of the former Carnation Farm that contains prime spawning beds for salmon and help is needed to plant native trees and shrubs to restore and improve habitat along the river.
Volunteers should meet Saturday, Nov. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Chinook Bend. Bring your own coffee mug; light refreshments will be provided. Also, bring a shovel if you have one and wear old work clothes and rubber boots or heavy shoes. Tools will be provided for those without. Dress for the weather, planting will go on rain or shine. Note: Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Call Bob Spencer at (206) 296-1951 to reserve a space or more information.
