Senior pie auction deliciously successful
CARNATIONThe aroma of success wafted through the Sno-Valley Senior Center's 2nd annual pie auction, as over 185 pies were auctioned off during the Oct. 14 steak dinner.
"I would like to thank everyone who donated a pie. It was way beyond my expectations," said Pie Chairperson Dawn Board, also known as the Pie Queen.
Carnation resident and auctioneer George Magnochi once again encouraged the bidding to go as high as $55 for a single pie. A chocolate pecan pie went for $42, a huckleberry went for $50, and "Doc" Studer's handpicked wild blackberry pie had the high bid of $55.
Total profits from the one night fund-raiser to equip the Senior Center kitchen hit the $2,600 mark.
During the auction and bidding mayhem, volunteers served 194 steak dinners.
