State Representative Position 1

Al O'Brien (D) incumbent
   Family, residence, education, and occupation and current legislative position?
   Two sons: Christopher, 26 and Michael, 24; Mountlake Terrace resident; BA in sociology and MA in public administration, both from Seattle University; retired Seattle Police Officer; House of Representative Seat 1 Dist. 1.
   Why running ...?
   Simply put, I am the best qualified for the job. I have extensive experience in local government including higher education, criminal justice, senior citizen issues and education.
   If re-elected ....?
   I will work with my constituency and help them to have their needs met to the best of my ability, to make a better quality of life in the district.
   I will bring to the people of my district a strong work ethic, a willingness to work with people and a concern for their well-being.
   Outside interests?
   Running and reading. Also an ardent Mariners supporter.

   Why are you running ...?
   I believe my educational background and customer service work experience will enable me to be an effective legislator.
   If elected ...?
   We need to have new ideas, energy and purpose in Olympia. I'm committed to limited government, preserving individual freedom and responsibility and believe we can achieve more in our society by having less government rather than more.
   Outside interests?
   Family and church activities; sports fan, especially Huskies and Sonics.
   Last book read and enjoyed?
