WOODINVILLE - On a rainy Friday night Falcon sports fans got a glimpse of their football future. With six starters - quarterback Kevin Agnew, wide receiver Casey Priseman, linmen Cody Hromada, Ben Tomco and Jake Kentner and kicker Ben Hoeferč out with injuries, the Woodinville coaches put together a revised lineup.
The young ones played with inspiration and gave the Eastlake Wolves all they could handle before succumbing 13-7.
The young Falcon backfield with juniors Jacob Ebner at quarterback, running backs Eric Norris and Brandon Haslem and sophomore wingback Dave Ronning put together a picture-perfect opening drive.
The Falcon took the lead at the 5'06" mark of the 1st period as Brandon Haslem ran it in from six yards out.
On a freak play in which Woodinville defenders stripped the ball away from the Eastlake runner, the ball squirted away from the pile and was picked up by the Eastlake quarterack who ran it down the sidelines for the tying score. The Wolves scored again in the 4th.
Falcons played hard-nosed defense as several key hits by senior Shay Mortenson led the fired-up defense. Top tacklers for the night were Stephen Gowdy and Eric Fergen with 7 and Kyle West with 9.
WHS finishes their season Friday against undefeated Inglemoor at Pop Keeney.
