Roy was born near Tonasket July 11, 1920 to Elmer Leroy Clbert and Carlyn Umpsheid Colbert.
His early years were spent on the family cattle ranch. He attended Tonasket High School and maintained those friendships through the years.
Roy had a career with United Airlines that took him across the country. In 1957 he retired from the airline industry, and the family moved to Bothell where he built several houses and started a janitorial company.
In 1962, Roy served as a team member in the preparation for the Seattle World's Fair.
His passion since retiring was woodcarving. His real talent was helping others reach their potentials, through coaching, teaching and advising. He wanted each carver to do his best and reveled in their successes.
Roy will be greatly missed by his wife, Barie; son, Dale of Olympia; granddaughter, Lisa Petro of Tacoma; great-grandchildren, Traci, Tomas, Julie and Elizabeth Petro; sister, Dixie Tremain; brother, Mark Colbert; nephews, Duane and David Tremain and Dan Colbert; as well as several grand-nephews and nieces.
A memorial service was held Nov. 8.
Memorials may be made to Evergreen Hospice.
