Mountain pass highway reports begin

Motorists preparing to drive across Washington's mountain pass highways this winter now have access to road and weather reports.
   The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) provides these reports free of charge by telephone or Internet.
   The Mountain Pass Highway Report is available toll-free within the greater Seattle are at 206-DOT-HIWY (206-368-4499).
   Outside the Seattle area, the report is available toll-free statewide at 1-800-695-ROAD (1-800-695-7623).
   Hearing-impaired callers using TTD's (text tele-typewriter devices) can access it at 1-800-833-6388 and then type for extension 206-440-4040.
   On the Internet, the reports are available on the WSDOT Home Page at:, in the Traveler Information website. The Internet pass reports include video snapshots of Snoqualmie Pass (I-90), Stevens Pass (US 2), Blewett Pass (US 97), White Pass (US 12) and Satus Pass (US 97). The Traveler Information website also has links to highway and bridge cameras, statewide emergency highway closures, construction updates, weather information, Washington State Ferries, Amtrak Cascades and public transit agencies.Note: studded tires are now legal.
