Woodinville Festival of Lights - Dec. 8-24

* WOODINVILLE - Thousands of lights will illuminate Wilmot Gateway Park and the Sammamish River as the City flips the switch to the 90-ft. tree of lights and the sparkling light displays along the river Friday, Dec. 8. Lights will operate from 6-10 p.m. every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night through Dec 24.
   Other activities planned for the kick-off on Friday include free rides on the Elf Express lighted train, live music and entertainment, arts and crafts, a teen art show and, of course, Santa's arrival and photo booth. All activities are free.
   Event locations: Wilmot Gateway Park (17301 131st Ave NE), and Brittany Park Leisure Care (17143 133rd Ave. NE).
   Where to park?
   Woodinville Park & Ride (179th and 140th NE). Catch the free Event Shuttle Bus in front of Frontier Bank next to the Park & Ride lot.
   Additional (but limited) parking at Wilmot Park, City Hall campus & back lots of the 175th Street Station business park.
   No parking available at Brittany Park.
   Disabled parking is available at Wilmot Gateway Park and at Brittany Park.
   Elf Express lighted train will provide free shuttle service between Wilmot Park and the Brittany Park event sites from 6-10 p.m.
   Other Festival of the Light happenings include:
   'Tis the Season Swing Dance will be held Saturday, Dec. 9, for ages 12 years old to adult, at the Northshore Senior Center Ballroom, 10201 East Riverside Drive, Bothell, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Cost is $5 a person. Swing dance lessons will be offered from 6:30-7 p.m. and 8-8:30 p.m. with dancing to a popular swing band, Portage Bay Big Band, from 7-8 p.m. and 8:30-9:30 p.m.
   Parents, for your convenience, the Holiday Kidzone offers a variety of fun activities for children 5-11 years old in the room next-door to the ballroom. Tickets will be available in advance or at the door.
   Santa Skate is planned for Sunday, Dec. 10, from 11:10 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. at Kingsgate Ice Arena, 14326 124th Ave. NE, Kirkland.
   Admission to the event is free with a donation of two canned food items per person for the local Hopelink Center. Enjoy live music, skating, and a visit from Santa at this popular holiday event. No registration is required. Bring your own skates or free skate rental is provided, but limited.
