Symphony offers Young Composers Workshop
The Seattle Symphony invites pre-college students to apply to participate in the 2001 Young Composers Workshop, led by Seattle Symphony Composer in Residence Samuel Jones. During the course of the free, four-month workshop, each student will compose a new chamber work to be performed by Seattle Symphony musicians. This free, public performance will be given in the Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall in Benaroya Hall May 7, 2001. Students will be selected for the workshop based on proven aptitude for reading and notating music and demonstrated composition experience, including a review of an original score.
For more information, call (206) 336-6650. Applications are due by Dec. 15, 2000.
Selected participants will be notified in January. The workshop will be held weekly at Benaroya Hall, from January through April.
