Tree of Love celebrated, blessed

Many brave animal lovers weathered the storm Dec. 14 to attend the Tree of Love lighting celebration and blessing at Hooterville Pets Safehaus in Country Village, Bothell. Father Steve Sallis, Pastor of St. Brendan's Church in Bothell, gave a blessing for all the animals of the world as well as those remembered with the lights, followed by a blessing of the tree itself prior to the lighting.
Due to the harsh weather the refreshments were moved indoors to the adoption center. As a result there were three animals adopted during the celebration.
The Tree of Love is already adorned with over a thousand lights in honor and memory of beloved animal companions. More names (for more lights) are arriving each day, many sent to Hooterville from friends around the country. Names and lights will continue to be added through New Year's Eve.
The names will be posted in the window of Hooterville Pets Safehaus and will appear in the spring newsletter and will be published on theWeb site at www.HootervilleSafehause.org.
