Please be seated for Garden Bench Competition

Seattle's first-ever bench competition, presented by the Arboretum Foundation, will bring innovative and stylish lawn and garden seating to downtown Seattle with a display of 15 benches at two popular destinations, Pacific Place Shopping Center and the Northwest Flower and Garden Show Jan. 15-Feb. 11.
Artists, designers and specialty manufacturers have created benches from an array of materials including recycled glass and wood, cedar twigs, stainless steel, bamboo, ceramic tile, and stucco. Bench features include birdhouses, water fountains, storage cabinets, sculpted flowers, and bell towers.
Designs range from traditional to ultra-modern, from practical to decidedly whimsical.
Benches will be available for sale to high bidders, with proceeds benefiting the Arboretum Foundation.
Bidding information will be posted at each bench, with final bids accepted Feb. 10 at the Flower Show. Viewers may also vote for favorite benches during the Flower Show.
