Northshore skaters featured in 'Nutcracker on Ice'
Two Northshore ice skaters, Morgan Brown and Maria Sherrer, were among the talented amateur skaters to perform in "Nutcracker on Ice" during the month of December at the Wells Fargo Ice Arena in Bellevue.
The event was produced by former professional skater, coach and choreographer Lisa Viereck of Kenmore along with skating coaches from around the Puget Sound region including Lisa Ware, professional skater, coach and skating director of Kingsgate Ice Arena.
Morgan Brown, age 11, began skating at age 3. She hopes to go to the Olympics and do her personal best in practice and competition. She lives in the Northshore school district and trains with Ware and Xavier Videau. Ballet, select soccer with Tim Self of Emerald City, recreational volleyball and basketball are also favorite pastimes for Brown.
Her hobbies include art projects and spending time at home with her cats.
In her spare time Brown likes to spend time at her grandparents' home and play with her cousins Haily and Ryan. In school her favorite subjects are math and science.
Maria Scherrer is a 15-year-old 9th grader in the Northshore School District. She lives in Bothell and skates in Edmonds at Olympic View Ice Arena. Her hobbies include skating, shopping and the theater.
While skating she enjoys spins, but she likes jumps and choreography more.
Her future plans include testing all the way through Senior and making it to Coast/Sectionals.
