Grants can help with heating bills
Many more local low-income families struggling to keep warm are eligible for assistance to pay their heating bills, thanks to an unexpected $625,000 recently released to Snohomish County.
Low-income households are especially burdened by fuel price increases, forcing many families to forego other essential expenses in order to stay warm during the cold months.
To apply, call the Energy Assistance Hotline at (425) 259-5185. A one-person household with earned income up to $1,088 per month may qualify for an assistance grant. Two-person households earning up to $1,465 monthly, and four-persons households earning up to $2,220 monthly are also eligible for assistance.
Grants range from as little as $25 to as much as $700, with grants averaging $250.
