Students help earthquake victims
Ms. Oswald's 6th grade Social Studies class at Tolt Middle School has been studying the countries of Central America this month. Recently, El Salvador experienced a major earthquake that registered 7.6 in magnitude. This quake triggered a landslide which devastated homes and lives.
Thousands of people have lost their lives and many more are homeless. There have been over 800 aftershocks and the country is in a state of emergency.
Ms. Oswald's students have responded to this crisis by encouraging other Tolt students and the community to contribute to a penny drive. The money that is collected will be forwarded to El Salvador through Mercy Corps International on behalf of Tolt Middle School. Donation boxes are located in the main office, attendance office and Ms. Oswald's room #J706.
