New service doesn't seem better
Puget Sound Energy will soon be installing automated meter reading service. The automated meter is nothing more than a cell phone with transmission capabilities. My meter is on the opposite wall of my kitchen.
I assume I will have to pay for the transmission of this service along with having radio waves on my enclosed porch.
My meter has been in its present position for at least 60 years. My transformer has three electrical devices that siphon off power from my lines. Some of these devices, I'm sure, also transmit radio waves.
In addition there has to be access to the meters at all times. I cannot see where this service change is any better than the way it is now. Healthwise, I feel it is worse.
