Redmond Police/Fire Citizens Academy
The Redmond Police and Fire departments are offering a free comprehensive overview of public safety in Redmond. The academy features informative and entertaining instruction on various topics ranging from crime prevention, patrol procedures, firearms, traffic enforcement, criminal investigation, fire/arson investigation, emergency rescue operations, SWAT, K-9, and emergency preparedness. Included in the course is the opportunity to ride along with a police officer and a fire/aid crew. An orientation meeting will be held Monday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. in the Redmond Police Dept. lobby, 8701 160th Ave. N.E.
The Spring Academy begins March 7 and graduates May 9. Classes meet 10 consecutive Wednesday evenings with two Saturday sessions, March 10 and April 28.
The class is free and open to citizens and employees of Redmond who submit an application and are accepted into the program. Class size is limited.
Persons with an interest in public safety, law, local government, and community affairs will find the academy a very worthwhile experience.
