Rotary presents check to seniors

At their Feb. 6 meeting held at the Columbia Winery, Woodinville Rotarians presented the Northshore Senior Center with a check for $9,000 which assisted them with the purchase of a wheel chair accessible van.
The van, driven by Bill Wilson of the Senior Center, is used to transport seniors from the Woodinville Adult Day Care Center in the Cottage Lake area to the YMCA pool for exercise classes, to the senior center and to doctor appointments. Judy Pirone, director of the day care facility, said that the mobility the van gives seniors is a great boost to their morale and well-being.
John Hughes, of Hughes Printing Center, a member of the Rotary Board, said the motto of the Rotary Club is "Service above self." To provide service, the club holds an annual auction in August and a golf tournament in September. They raise in the area of $100,000 a year for such worthy causes as the Northshore Senior Center, the Children's Country Home, and other international, vocational and community services.
