Stillwater names Reflections winners
CARNATION - Stillwater Elementary held its annual Ice Cream Social and Reflections Awards Ceremony recently. Students entertained guests with piano selections, unlimited toppings lay in wait for bowls of ice cream, and a gallery of Reflections art and literature stood ready for viewers.
All except for four pieces.
The talented students who created these four pieces of artwork, Cassie Chriest, Jasmyne Barnts, Kelsey Henson and Melissa Flynn, soon found out that their entries ‹ Grand Honors Award Winners ‹ had already been shipped off to compete at the state level.
Winners of the state competition, judged in May at the State PTSA Convention, will go on to the national contest, which will be judged in June in San Antonio, Texas.
The Primary Reflections Award Winners were First Place, Sean Morris for photo, Jasmyne Barnts for visual arts and Meghan McDonell for literature; Second Place, Sean Morris for photo, Glynis Bawden for visual arts and Chloe Clowers for literature; and Third Place, Coben Varland for photo, Sean Morris and Coben Varland for visual arts, and Courtney Mellor for literature.
Intermediate Award Winners were First Place, Tyler Rooney for photo, Jed Kenney and Michael Morris for visual arts, Willy Miller for literature and Trisha Kenney for music; Second Place, Michael Morris for photo, Michael Morris for visual arts, Kelsey Henson for literature and Constance Young for music; and Third Place, Jonathon Haas for photo, Melissa Flynn and Janessa Shepard for visual arts, Emilie Smith for literature and Tana Goar for music.
In addition, judges bestowed 15 other well deserved Honorable Mentions and Teachers Choice Awards.
And now that the ice cream has been eaten; the awards have been handed out; and the artwork and compositions have been taken off the the display partitions, there is little else to do but look forward to next year's Stillwater Elementary Reflections masterpieces.
