Suzanne Marie Johnson

Born August 20, 1955, in Seattle to Stephen and Barbara Olsen, Suzanne was raised in southwest Snohomish County and was educated in the Edmonds School District.
She attended Mountlake Terrace High School and graduated from Western Washington University in 1977 with degrees in music education and performance.
After graduation she taught music for three years in Eatonville. She then toured for one year in the Midwest with Lutheran Youth Encounter.
In 1981 she married Ronald Johnson at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Lynnwood. They, with their children Stephen and Bethany, have made their home in the Bothell area.
Suzanne served as minister of music and choir director at Gloria Dei.
Starting in 1995 she also taught music at Concordia Lutheran School in Seattle while maintaining a busy schedule of private French horn lessons.
She played French horn in the Cascade Symphony for 17 years.
She died Feb. 19 at Northwest Hospital. She was proud of the many successes her students had and wanted everyone to love and enjoy music as much as she did.
She is survived by her husband and children; her parents; sisters Stephanie Running, of Alexandria, Va., and Gayle Quinn, of Mukilteo; and four nieces and one nephew.
A memorial service for Suzanne was held on Feb. 24 at First Lutheran in Bothell.
The family suggests that remembrances be given in her name to the Memorial Fund of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 3205 Larch Way, Lynnwood, WA 98036.
