Focus of I-728 meeting
on Feb. 28 has changed
At a meeting to be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 28 at Ricketts auditorium, Northshore School District's Initiative 728 task force will share the progress they've made to date instead of their preliminary recommendations as originally intended.
Initiative 728, passed by Washington voters in November, will provide the school district with approximately $3.7 million in additional funding. The monies can be allocated in any of six categories and must have a measurable impact on student achievement.
Over the past three weeks, the task force has collected and studied research on variables impacting student achievement, examined costs related to these variables and listened to extensive input from staff and community. Given the complexity of the issues being studied, arriving at preliminary recommendations is taking longer than planned. The school board is scheduled to hear these recommendations in April.
