On Wednesay, Jan. 31, six students at Richards' Taekwondo in Mountlake Terrace received their Black Belts. The recipients included Patrick Villanueva, Carson Moscoso, Jordan Moscoso, Marie Gundersen, Adam Hayne, Maritza Santiago.
The Black Belt in Taekwondo is given to students who have shown excellent proficiency in basic hand and foot techniques, forms, sparring and breaking. Each Black Belt testing in December 2000 was an extremely difficult 3-hour exam. They did forms, breaking and sparring. Each of the students was certified by the Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters in Seoul, South Korea.
