I-405 open house schedule

An open house addressing the future of the I-405 Corridor Program will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on March 20 at the Northshore Senior Center, 10201 East Riverside Drive, Bothell.
In January the I-405 Corridor Program's executive committee approved an alternative ( http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/I-405/prelim.html.) that contains a mix of demand management, transit, roadway and non-motorized improvements to address the mobility challenges of I-405.
The executive committee will review public input and the outcomes of additional technical analysis before a decision is made on a preferred alternative for I-405. The open house will help participants learn about and discuss the preliminary preferred alternative and other solution packages (http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/I-405/eis_alternatives/eis_alternatives.html.) being carefully studied in a programmatic environmental impact statement (EIS).
This EIS allows the assessment of the benefits, costs, and impacts of different types of solutions on I-405. The goal is to have a package of improvements that will effectively optimize the performance of the I-405 transportation system while addressing community and environmental impacts.
A draft of the complete EIS findings will be issued in early summer 2001. Following its release, public hearings will be held.
A final solution package will be selected next fall, based on the EIS findings and extensive public input.
